At the end of January, the Fran Park Center, along with Dr. Albert Celoza, Executive Director of Arizona Interfaith Movement took a group on an Interfaith Tour to tour 3 different houses of worship: Hindu, Sikh and Buddist. Many found the experience very eye-opening. Check out all the fun we had below!

Cultural Heritage Tour of Interfaith Traditions

Join us for a day of discovering different cultures, communities and religions that coexist with us in our own neighborhoods. We’ll explore these houses of worship and learn of their traditions, history and faith commitments. This is a wonderful intergenerational opportunity for ages 12 and older. Please note: not all faiths are included in the tour due to time, availability and worship schedules. Only 50 spots available. Registration is closed.

More Information On The Tour Destinations

Hindu Temple - Bharatiya Ekta Mandir - The Indo-American Cultural and Religious Foundation of Arizona was founded in 1987 by a group of visionary community leaders with the goal of keeping the community united. They helped support the Indo-American community’s social, cultural and religious activities in the metro Phoenix area.

Sikh Gurdwara - Guru Nanak Dwara, which means "Gate to Guru Nanak," was established in 1970 as the first Gurdwara in the state of Arizona. Today, it continues to serve the community as a vibrant spiritual campus in the center of historic Phoenix. Guru Nanak was the founder and first Guru of Sikhism, and taught that all humans are equal in the eyes of the One Creator.

SGI - Soka Gakkai International Buddhist - The Soka Gakkai International Buddhists (SGI-USA) are a diverse Buddhist community in the United States.  The (SGI-USA) is part of a global community-based network of more than 11 million people in 192 countries and territories that practice the humanistic philosophy of Nichiren Buddhism centered on respect for the dignity of life.  As members of the SGI, they are committed to dialogue and nonviolence based on the conviction that individual happiness and the realization of peace are inextricably linked.
