The Politics of Translation with Michael Hegeman
We could say that every version of the Bible for the last 2000 years has been a translation of some kind, and every translation of scripture takes place in the context of changing political climates. Each translation of scripture is affected by those politics, and over time, specific translations of scripture have shaped the culture and societies in which they were read. In the American context, which translations of the Bible are produced and read, and by whom, matters deeply, and no translation is free from political power dynamics of the day.  Come find out why the politics behind Biblical translation matters to faith today.
